Anxiety and Panic Attacks

Anxiety and panic attacks are becoming more common among Americans. The terms anxiety and panic attack refer to two different things. First, let’s break down the difference between them. Anxiety causes symptoms often experienced as; overwhelm, racing thoughts, increased heart rate, tension, and trouble sleeping. If left untreated, anxiety can gradually build and become a panic attack. When Panic attacks occur they are sudden and can feel extreme. They bring on sudden fear, increased anxiety and excessive worry. Often these feelings are accompanied with physical symptoms such as; chest pain, shortness of breath, shaking, and feeling disconnected. Disclaimer: if you are experiencing symptoms of chest pain or shortness of breath it is important to call your doctor right away.

Hypnotherapy Eases Panic Attacks

Hypnotherapy can help to ease feelings of anxiety and calm panic attacks before they start. This is done by inducing a state of relaxation and focus. When your mind is calm, I will bring your awareness to thoughts or events that cause you to feel anxiety or panic, along with the physical and emotional sensations that occur. By focusing on these areas under hypnosis, I am able to provide suggestions to redirect your thoughts and reactions. Hypnotherapy acts as a teacher to help you learn how to identify a panic attack before it starts and lessen the intensity. For example, breathing calms the body and mind. While under hypnosis, your body can learn to breath as an automatic response to calm panic or anxiety. Overtime, panic will decrease, giving you freedom from fear and anxiety.
